Avolio writes regular columns, contributes to industry magazines, and authors white papers. He writes book and product reviews and issues analysis, all pertaining to the Internet and computer and network security. He is the co-author of Sendmail: Theory and Practice, 2nd Edition.

Rates

Avolio Consulting offers a select series of consulting services for vendors, end-users, and enterprises. These include security analysis and architecture work, pre-product launch evaluation, and marketing assistance. We assist and train in policy development. We also teach security training courses. Avolio is available for keynote speeches and talks on various computer and network security, and other Internet topics.

Experience

Fred Avolio has been involved in Internet computing and communication since the early 1980s, working with Internet security systems for over 15 years. He assisted in the creation of the first commercial Internet firewall (DEC SEAL), and helped create the commercial security products division of Trusted Information Systems, which produced TIS's commercial security consulting practice, the TIS Internet Firewall Toolkit, and the Gauntlet firewall. He contributed to the successful IPO of TIS, and its subsequent acquisition. Areas of expertise include firewalls, intrusion detection, cryptography, security management, and electronic mail systems.
